ZOO ATLANTA


A few weeks ago we went to the zoo, where I overheard this conversation. "Look, that flamingo only has one leg!" Another responded, "Hey, that one's missing a leg too!" Pretty funny, huh? Well, not really. That was my family talking. :)

I don't want to bore you with zoo pictures, but this was just too cool. If you have never been to the Atlanta Zoo, I have to tell you, the gorillas are an awesome sight to see.

See the gorilla on the right? She is a mommy holding twin babies. I wish I had a fancy camera that could take zoom shots.

Enough about the zoo....... back to my real passion. I bought buttons for rudolph's eyes. I hate to hand-sew, but I can't have him blind for the entire Holiday season. Will try to get to that soon. (Rudolph is a reindeer square on my Christmas afghan.) I'm also working on a king size afghan for my son. That is a story all by itself, but I will save that for when I post the pic of the finished product.

NO MORE TIME FOR BLOGGING (for a while)
I need to get back to crocheting. I'd like to finish 4 afghans and make a few ponchos before the end of the year. We'll see :)

CHRISTMAS AFGHAN




This was a gift for my son and his family a few years ago. It was hard to give it up :) I really like it a lot, but I love them more. :) The pattern can be found on freepatterns.com. You have to sign up, but the patterns really are free, and they are worth looking at. They have LOTS of other crafts besides crocheting, but for this afghan you would go to the crochet section, choose "Special Occasions" and look for the "Christmas Granny Afghan". I used gold Christmas yarn in mine instead of the dark blue. Enjoy!

MY DARLING DAUGHTER'S DAISIES


This was a Christmas gift for one of my daughters. She thought I bought it off ebay because I had shown her one on ebay that I really liked. :) I promise, I made this all by myself - all 70 squares.

"DUCK & BABY" BLANKET


This was a gift to my little grandson. Some say he looks just like me. :)

PONCHOS


This poncho was made with Lion Brand Homespun yarn. The pattern is on the A C Moore website. I have gotten a lot of compliments on this one.



My oldest granddaughter loves to dress up. I made this for her last year and it is so exciting to see her enjoy it. :) I modified it because I didn't think she would like all that fur tickling her neck.

BETTY BOOP FOR KELLY BOOP



Boop is a family tradition. My mother, and my daughter and I all love her. This was a gift to my daughter for Christmas a few years ago. This afghan was done in sc. I bought the pattern from CitiUSA . The "Moon Betty" is not shown on the website, but Janet's email address is on her website, and you could ask her about it. There is also a Yahoo Group called MoEZ_Crochet. If you join (it's free) there are lots of folks with graphs who are more than happy to share, and you don't have to use the MoEZ stitch. A graph's a graph. :)

KELLY'S CREATIONS
My daughter, Kelly, has been crocheting since she was a little girl. Here are some of her newest projects. She does beautiful work, and sometimes doesn't even use a pattern.

This is one square from an afghan she made for her newest little nephew (my little grandson)


She made this poncho for her newborn baby girl. It is a little big now, but should fit well next winter


This blanket is also for her little girl, but will work well for a little boy too :)

CHRISTMAS EXCHANGE AFGHAN

Last year I belonged to a Yahoo Crochet Group. We did a Christmas square exchange. That was sooooooooo fun! Now I have a beautiful Christmas afghan that I will cherish the rest of my life. I took a picture of each half, so you will have to use your imagination and think of this as one picture :)

But, I'm afraid there is not a happy ending. Rudolf lost an eye in the washing machine. A few months later, he lost the other eye. So this poor, blind reindeer is waiting on me to sew on some button eyes. :)

PRAYER SHAWL



I crocheted this prayer shawl with Homespun yarn from a free pattern I got on Lion Brand. Instructions are given for knit or crochet. Just to warn you, don't copy mine. I put the fringe along the length, but I think it is really supposed to be on both ends. Also, be sure you knot the ends of the fringe. Homespun yarn frays quite easily.

THE CHOO-CHOO



My oldest grandson really loves trains, so of course I had to make him a train afghan. I bought the pattern from CitiUSA

FLOWERS FOR BABY GIRL





How could I be so blessed? A little grandson in September, and now a little granddaughter. I used Simply Soft yarn - white, soft green, and off white. The off white looks like pale yellow when it is next to the white. The pattern is square #97 from the 99 Granny Squares to Crochet book and the border is from 63 Easy-To-Crochet Pattern Stitches Combine to Make an Heirloom Afghan book. I just love that border and use it for most of my afghans.

BEAR FOR BABY BOY




My precious little grandson was born in Sept, 2005. This graph ghan I made for him was done all in single crochet. It's lots of fun, but be ready for lots of tangles. :)



I handstitched this quilted back. One reason was to make it nice and soft for baby. The other reason was to hide the zillions of ends.

TO CHINA, WITH LOVE


I have had the honor of teaching English to the Asian community for the past few years. One of my Chinese students had a little granddaughter this year, and this is the baby blanket I made for her.

A PROJECT WAITING for a Mate :)

This is a twin bedspread I made about 2 years ago. I started making a matching spread with green and yellow instead of lavender and yellow. I am still working on it. I have to finish it, but those are big squares and there will be 70 of them when I have both spreads finished! What in the world did I get myself into? :)

SOME OLDER PROJECTS

This was for my little nephew. Double strands and tight stitches keep the cold draft out.


This was such a pretty afghan, but this picture just doesn't do it justice. It is made from Simply Soft yarn, and was 24 squares of a cat silhouette. I made it for a very special friend.
This patriotic striped afghan is for my wonderful husband. Something to keep him warm when he watches TV :)
